Movies in the Plaza brings you free Wednesday night movie screenings May through October in downtown New Haven’s beloved, cozy Pitkin Plaza! Grab your lawn chairs, picnic blankets and some takeout from a local spot, and spend an evening under the stars enjoying blockbusters, nostalgic blasts from the past, cult favorites, family films, and more.

Any weather updates will be posted on this website and the Facebook event page by 3PM the day of the event. For the safety of our guests and equipment, if the forecast shows any indication of poor weather, including severe winds, the event will not be held that evening. We will try our best to reschedule every postponed movie to another night.

Guests are welcome to remove their masks once seated, but must wear them at all other times.

Movies in the Plaza features a pop-up lawn space, perfect for movie lounging - just bring a blanket!

Bistro tables and chairs are available in the Plaza, but limited, so please plan to arrive early or bring your own!

 

Health & Safety Event Guidelines:

  • The event is FREE to attend, RSVP not required. All guests are required to register names and contact info upon entry to the event at the check-in table.

  • Space is limited. Please plan to arrive early to secure your spot.

  • NO SMOKING is permitted in Pitkin Plaza during event time. This includes all types of smoking, including vaping. Staff reserves the right to remove those who refuse to comply with this guideline.

  • While some bistro table seating is available, guests are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs, blankets and other items and are expected to clean up any personal trash and take home all items at the end of the event.

  • Any event guests that are visibly intoxicated will be asked to leave the event.

  • Any event guests that are being disruptive during the movie screening will be asked to leave.

  • Event staff reserves the right to remove any guest or group found not following these guidelines.
